Peace Pagoda - Nipponzan-Myōhōji-Daisanga

Nipponzan-Myōhōji-Daisanga, often called Nipponzan Myohoji, is a Japanese Buddhist order known for its pacifist activism and promotion of world peace. Founded in 1917 by Nichidatsu Fujii, it emerged from Nichiren Buddhism. The order is globally recognized for its peace walks, chanting of the Lotus Sutra, and construction of Peace Pagodas.

It's placed out quite literally in the middle of nowhere. Like the closest neighbor had a confederate flag hanging outside their home. I took a moment to ponder the dynamics of this contrast. A warning sign at the bottom informs you the trek is is too steep for most cars. Reviews online warn you're better off walking, so come with 4-wheel drive or your cardio game on.

The inside is intriguing, but the outside is stunning. Unfortunately as of the time I visited, the pagoda was not finished only half built, I look forward to the day it is up and functioning. I will definitely go back!

There were gardens growing lots of herbs, veggies and welcoming all the nature to partake. Such a lovely vibe to experience.
